Facilities

We will be staying at Admiral House in Klipsan, on the Long Beach peninsula. Take a look at the three floors. It is a short walk to the beach, looks reasonably private, and has a nice little seafood market and takeout place very nearby. Check-in is 04:00 PM Thursday February 26, 2009; and check-out is 11:00 AM Monday March 2, 2009. (There are no formal events scheduled Sunday evening and we only reserved Sunday night because 4 nights was actually cheaper than 3 with the special.) See also the AdmiralHouseRules

Do not follow the google map directions -- See these Driving Directions. Expect 3-4 hour commute time.

Attendees

  • Ray (& Julie?)
  • Pete (& guest?)
  • Chuck and Lisa
  • Harry and Susan
  • Steve and Carol

Agenda

  • Thursday 2/26 4pm-11pm - Check in and get settled. I suggest taking Thursday off, but of course people could also leave directly after work and make it in the evening.
  • Friday 2/27 7pm - Elocution & Polyphony: (Fez optional) Each potentate takes up to 20 minutes to play, recite, or read something you wrote or just something you like. (Potentate spouses may participate at their option)
  • Saturday 2/28 7pm - Disputation and Dissertation: (Fez required) Open discussion of topics TBD closer to the event date.
  • Sunday 3/1 12:00pm - Review the weekend, consider improvements, and discuss next event. (Attendees may choose to stay Sunday night if they please.)

Other activities

All attendees are on their own for food and meals (there is a kitchen on each floor) and activities around the scheduled above, but of course we may plan things together at the time. If you have never been to the Long Beach, WA area before, I strongly recommend visiting Marsh's Free Mueseum and, roads and trails permitting, the Cape Disappointment lighthouses.

Financial Details

Pete paid $1147.41 on 12/21. This was $850 for the special - buy two nights get two nights free during the offseason, + $195 mandatory cleaning fee + 81.51 sales tax + $20.90 lodging tax. I was thinking of singles paying a lower share and for people with the nicest rooms paying a bit more, but given that his is pretty affordable all around I now propose we just split the costs evenly for the 5 adult bedrooms and decide who gets first pick of rooms with some game of chance yet to be defined. Thus I would like to collect 1/5 of the preceding total or $230 from each couple (or person attending as a single) at your earliest convenience. It is best if you Paypal it to me at paypal@peterga.com.
